The Associate Vice President for Development will report to the Vice President for Development. As a key member of the development team, he or she will work closely with staff, leaders and volunteers. The Associate Vice President will identify, classify prospects, steward donors and ensure the implementation of timely cultivation and solicitation strategies. The successful candidate will prepare written and oral presentations, analytical financial reports, donor correspondence and proposals as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide strategic planning and the execution of cultivation and solicitation activities.
• Manage the prospect pipeline and ensure timely activity and progress toward departmental goals and benchmarks.
• Manage and solicit a personal portfolio of principal, lead and major gift prospects including individuals, foundations and corporations.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have 5 – 7 plus years’ experience in fundraising that includes the direct management of professional fundraising staff.
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required. A Master's degree is preferred.
Candidate will need to travel on behalf of Hampton Universities and participate regularly in events and activities.
