Mid-Level Insurance Defense Associate Attorney

Profile

A law firm in Houston, TX, is seeking a Mid-Level Insurance Defense Associate Attorney with at least 3 years of litigation experience. The candidate will primarily represent insurance companies in coverage litigation but may also be involved in defense litigation. The role requires experience with diverse types of insurance coverage and general civil defense litigation.

Duties:

• Represent insurance companies in coverage litigation.
• Handle defense litigation matters as needed.
• Draft pleadings, discovery, and motions.
• Conduct depositions and attend court appearances.
• Engage in arbitration and trial preparations and proceedings.
• Conduct superior legal research and writing.
• Manage cases effectively, including federal court cases.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in Texas; Louisiana license is a plus.
• Minimum of 3 years of litigation experience.
• Experience with diverse types of insurance coverage (e.g., excess and surplus lines, general liability, construction defect, D&O, environmental, personal and advertising injury claims).
• Practical case management experience in federal court preferred.
• Familiarity with general defense litigation is a plus.
• Superior research, writing, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the Texas State Bar.
• Admission to the Louisiana State Bar is a plus.
