A law firm seeks a technology advisor or patent agent for their life sciences patent practice in New York, NY. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. or M.D. with research experience in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, or a related field to join their patent prosecution and counseling practice.

Duties

• Conduct prior art database searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses.
• Analyze patents and scientific papers to assist patent attorneys on patent prosecution, counseling, and litigation.
• Draft patent applications and responses to office actions.
• Participate in post-grant procedures at the USPTO.

Requirements

• Superb technical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Broad scientific knowledge in biotechnology.
• Initiative, fast learner, and ability to work well with others.
• Registered USPTO patent agent or eligible to sit for the USPTO registration exam.

Education

• Ph.D. or M.D. with research experience in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, or related field.

Certifications

• Registered USPTO patent agent or eligibility for registration.
